News is information people find interesting, enlightening, and/or significant about some aspect of society or life. It is reporting on important topics or events. It is how people gain new knowledge. News keeps people informed and involved in societal affairs.
Good journalism is revealing meaningful news in an ethical and illuminating way. It involves making discoveries about the topic being covered. Good journalism is pushing past apparent obstacles to get the story. It takes heart, hard-work, and passion for the truth to make journalism truly good.
